Anyone who knows me knows that I love watching Youtube videos in my spare time. And I was thrilled when this year has seen many a youtuber announce that they were going to publish a book. Zoe Sugg, Alfie Deyes, Grace Helbig, Fleur De Force, Tanya Burr, Michelle Phan and Hannah Hart to name but a few. To be frank, I need something to get my love of reading back.
I currently own 3 of these books: The Pointless Book by Alfie Deyes, Girl Online by Zoe Sugg and Make Up : Your Life Guide to Beauty Style and Success by Michelle Phan.
Below are some short views on what I think of them:
THE POINTLESS BOOK – ALFIE DEYES
I got this as a birthday present this year and if I am being honest I probably wouldn’t have bought it myself however I have enjoyed doing the activities inside. The Pointless Book is essentially a book filled with Pointless activities to do when you are a little bit bored.
My favourite part of the book is secretly hidden within the pages of the book. If you head to itunes you can download the Pointless Book App which works similarly to a QR reader. You can then hover over a page and it will reveal Alfie’s answers, Special Never before seen videos and much more.
GIRL ONLINE – ZOE SUGG
Currently the only fictional book on the list, Zoe Sugg released Girl online last week to millions of adoring fans.
I have only read a few chapters so far, but I am really enjoying what I am reading. I have always been a fan of YA fiction having worked in a bookstore for my teenage years. The book about a young blogger with anxiety really resonated with me. Penny is nicely written characters and I cannot wait to read the rest of the book to see the development.
MAKEUP : YOUR LIFE GUIDE TO BEAUTY, STYLE AND SUCCESS – MICHELLE PHAN
I LOVE LOVE LOVE lifestyle books filled with hints, tips and tricks and Michelle Phan’s Book is no exception. Having watched Mish’s Videos for years I was intrigued to see what her first foray into publishing would be like. The book contains an eclectic mix of skincare, beauty, fashion, job and social media advice for the modern day woman.
I find it quite similar in content to Lea Michele’s book (Review here)
