Kat Von D Foiled Love in Valentine – The Review

Time has flown since my last review post (something I do love to write). This time the item in the spotlight is…….. Kat Von D’s Foiled Love Lipstick in Valentine.

Kat Von D is someone I have admired for years for her tattoo work, her TV show LA INK and her makeup/style.

This lipstick is definitely one that needs some lovin’ sent it’s way. This was a cheeky purchase from Sephora when I was in Florida a few months back. I was determined to get my hands on something from Kat’s line and this really captured my eye.

Now I will admit that the idea of Metalic Lipsticks scared me to start off with however when you look at them in person they aren’t as bad as they sound.

The colour I chose was Valentine a gorgeous metallic hot pink. The whole line is incredibly pigmented but none more so than this sparkly metallic. The formulation is incredible and is very steadfast not moving an inch. I’ve always found the bold lip thing quite daunting – forever worrying it’s smudged all over my face making me look a bit like the joker! But I found this lipstick is the perfect step in direction of bold lips because you don’t have to worry about it smudging.

Now to the glitter. Whist I know glittery lipsticks will not be everyone’s cup of tea I don’t find it difficult to wear. I wear this lipstick everyday to work and I don’t get irritated by the glitter particles. I usually apply two coats as this ensures all areas are covered . The downside is it often needs to be topped up throughout the day to ensure that your lips are always glittery. However I don’t find this as a deal-breaker when it comes to a lip product. Bear in mind that they are not a moisturising lipstick (and have never claimed to be) but they are not as harsh on the lips as you may think.

The packaging is super cool and stylish. Keeping with the metallic theme the tubes are silver with flowers engraved on them. I also love that the bottom exposes a little bit of the lipstick so you can always tell what colour it is without opening.

Looking online I cannot see these for sale any more so I hope they haven’t been discontinued but I am definitely looking into trying some more of the Kat Von D Line including the Studded Kiss Lipsticks.

For more information on the KVD range check out the Sephora website here.
