2014/15 really has been the year of the youtuber book release. I am all for people expanding their brand as it were but I have been skeptical about some of the releases to date and haven’t purchased them.
I have been a fan of Tanya Burr for a long time and think that her videos are good because her personality shines through. She also gives brilliant recommendation sof beauty products and does some scrummy baking videos. This trend filters through into the book. With a variety of different subjects including: beauty, fashion, life and baking.
One thing I was pleased about was the sheer quality of the photography, the full page glossy photos are incredible to look at and Tanya (with the odd appearance from Jim) look stunning! Penguin have done a brilliant job collating and putting together this book into a easy to read and enjoyable format.
One thing I personally don’t like in books is any fill it in yourself elements. At the end of each chapter there are a few lined pages with a prompt on the top of each one asking you to list your top 10 on that topic. Understandably I am not the target audience for this book so teenagers may appreciate this element however I do not like to write in books as I feel it ruins them.
My favourite parts of the book are when she uses examples from her own life to explain how she has got to where she is today. Her tips for confidence and happiness were a welcome read. Tanya’s positive and energetic view of life is really refreshing to read!
This is a nice little edition to anyone’s book collection and I am glad that I purchased it. Look around before buying though as some stores sell this a lot cheaper than others.
