Opportunities to completely relax and switch off from life are few and far between but I always feel like spa days are the perfect opportunity to just chill and take a little bit of me time. I have previously visited The Chilworth Manor club for a spa day and thoroughly enjoyed it so when a groupon voucher for half off a spa day went online I jumped at the chance to book me and my best friend onto one!
The voucher entitled each of us to use of the pool, spa pool, gym, sauna and steam room. We got robes and towels included as well as two treatments.
We arrived slightly later than planned after I took a few detours on the way (I may have been stuck in some serious bad traffic and I may have got lost on the way to my friends house ok!).We were checked in at reception, all members of the reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly, after filling out a health form and collecting our robes and towels we were quickly shown were everything was.
Our treatments weren’t until 2.30pm so we had plenty of time to chill! We spent plenty of time relaxing in the spa pool and on the lounges with a few trips to the sauna and steam room – which was about all my poor body could handle!
At lunch time (after previously booking our lunch which was included in the price) we went back out to the reception area where there is some tables, a vending machine and a TV with some lounges. We tucked into our lovely food – I had a Cheese and Coleslaw sandwich whilst my friend had a feta cheese and pepper one. If you are on a spa day there is a table where you can get free (obviously included in the price somehow though) tea/coffee and water/cranberry juice which was much welcomed after those sauna trips.
We relaxed in the foyer for a bit and read some magazines before heading back into the pool area one final time before our treatments. At 2.30 pm we headed up to the comfort zone to wait for our treatments. The groupon voucher entitled us to a 25 minute back, neck and shoulder massage along with a 45 minute facial. I have had a back massage before and been told that I should get them regularly but never really got round to it so this was much needed to release all that stress in my back. Both me and my friend had never had a facial before and I have to say I think I am a convert! Our skin looked glowing when we looked in the mirror and we felt thoroughly relaxed. I always worried about breakouts with facials however I haven’t had anything!
I literally cannot fault the experience! I would definitely do it again however I am really wanting to do a weekend spa maybe somewhere in the New Forest! I’ll keep you posted!
