Charlotte Get’s Techie – Amazon Fire Stick Review

IMG_0055

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a homebody! I would rather snuggle up in my blankets watching the TV than go for a night out. Thus, I am slowly but surely working my way through my extensive list of Netflix recommends – my current favourite being Suits.

I have always watched Netflix on a big screen, so this involved me using a HDMI cable every time to connect the two together. This was time consuming and annoying when you wanted to pause/fast-forward etc. as I have to get out of bed every time to do so. #lazygirlproblems

The Amazon Fire Stick seemed like the logical solution. The Amazon Fire Stick is a streaming media viewer which allows you to complete a wide range of functions on a HDMI stick and it even comes with its own remote. Hallelujah!!!!

The Fire Stick has an app that you can download onto your phone or tablet to use as an extra remote and you can access voice control from it also. The stick is easy to set up in a matter of minutes.

Amazon Fire stick is compatible with the following Apps; some of which I use on a daily or weekly basis. These are:

  • Amazon Prime
  • BBC IPlayer
  • Demand 5
  • Youtube
  • Netlix
  • Spotify
  • Vevo

This device is heavily branded with Amazon products however I don’t find that it hinders my use of the product as someone without Amazon Prime – Netflix and Youtube alone are worth the £35 price tag. Youtube on a big Screen – YES PLEASE!

I have only been using this for about 2 weeks but I am already obsessed! I am actually using Netflix more these days because of this device as there is less setup time – with my exceptionally slow laptop.

Have you tried the Fire Stick or a similar device and what are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below.

I have being thinking about this for a while and the main thing that stopped me from getting it was that I though I needed prime to use it. Now I know I don’t I’ll get one, thanks.

    (Also, Suits is amazing)
