Blogging: My Quick Tips for Staying Organised

I currently blog whilst working full time and try to post at least three times a week, which can become a bit of a juggling act if you’re not careful. I have huge respect for people who can blog every day on top of a full time job and would love to have the motivation to do that one day. My three main tips for staying on top of all things blog and social media are: Plan, List and Schedule! These three things have become a staple in my routine to ensure that I stay on track.

Plan – This is a key one to make sure that you have time in your week set aside for blogging. I tend to schedule in pure photography sessions when there is good lighting around so that I can bulk prepare the photography. I tend to spend a few hours on Saturday and Sunday preparing posts.

List – I have a cute little list book that my friend gave me which has post it notes, lists and writing paper to ensure that I can jot down any ideas that come to me throughout the day, including post ideas, photography ideas and details of events that come through on my phone. Lists are also a perfect way of knowing what you are doing that day, so I sometimes write lists of all the photo’s that need to be taken or all the posts I need to do for that weekend.

Schedule – I know some blogger’s don’t like scheduled posts but I am a huge lover of the idea! I schedule all of my blog posts as I need to get them all written on the weekend and want to even out the postings. I also schedule some tweets using tweetdeck for throughout the week, mostly promotional tweets with the blog link or links to previous posts which may now be relevant again. This is a great way to free up time during the week if your posts have already been prepared and are ready to go!
