The Power of Makeup – Confident Charlotte

As a beauty blogger, you become more aware of “makeup shaming”. The idea that if you are a makeup junkie that you are wearing it because you are insecure or are doing it to impress people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing it for these reasons however this isn’t the reason behind it for most of us.

I’ve never been very artistic, anyone can tell you that at school I sucked at art but makeup has been the first creative outlet I’ve found that works for me. I love transforming myself on a daily basis with a variety of different products but that girl on display isn’t any different to the girl who sits inside fresh faced in her PJ’s.

Many of you will know that I have only started wearing makeup for the past three years so wearing no makeup in public has never been an issue for me, however unless I am completing an activity that requires me to go makeup free, I nearly always opt for it. I’m not ashamed to admit that wearing makeup increases my confidence and makes me feel empowered. Makeup isn’t about impressing people or trying to change the way people see me, it is more about the way I feel about myself. So what if I want to even out my skin tone with a foundation or make myself look more tanned with bronzer, it feels like I’ve got my ‘game face on’ and I am ready to conquer anything that comes my way.

We’ve all had our mishaps and disasters along the way, I mean 15 year old me thought it was a good idea to wear bright pink/blue eyeshadow. However, along the way you also find the things that work perfectly for you, those holy grail items that suit you to a tee and you would find hard to give up! My Clarins Foundation has stayed with me from my makeup lesson all those years ago and I have only tried one other foundation since. Branching out can also be good to though as I have found my favourite blushes from Nars!
