I am an Urban Decay newbie and this *shock horror* was only my second ever UD purchase after my Naked 3 Palette. I trawled the web for every review, swatch and video I could find on this beauty, whilst at the same time trying to convince myself I didn’t need any more eyeshadows! But alas, I caved and £40 later I was the proud owner of this beauty.
I am talking about the hyped UDxGwen Eyeshadow Palette everyone and their mother has had their eye on! Gwen Stefani worked closely with Urban Decay to produce a makeup line that incorporated every shadow that she would ever need for a makeup look. This palette is a thing of beauty, from the packaging to the shadows, everything was well thought out and beautifully presented.
The packaging is strong and sturdy and with a large mirror (with a No Doubt quote on) is perfect for taking on your travels. I love the mix of black/white and gold and it almost reminds me of a treasure chest. This design was inspired by Gwen’s love of black-and-white graphic prints and antique gold accents. I love how the case just magnetically closes.
Inside are 12 brand new shades designed and named in collaboration with Gwen and 3 shades from the original Urban Decay collection. The perfect everyday palette; I love the range of neutrals with some shimmers and some matte’s included. My favourite shades are Steady, Stark and Baby. I haven’t had the chance to use the two brightest shades Harajuku and Danger (the two main reasons I wasn’t sure about this palette in the beginning) just yet as they aren’t the sort of shades I will usually go for but I have tracked down some tutorials I might give a try. The shadows, each named after a Stefani song, are all highly pigmented, easy to blend and will last you all day long.
The palette also comes with some of the UDxGwen lipstick sample dots which I cannot wait to try out, I have my eye on Firebird – a berry shade.
I know I am a bit late to the Urban Decay party so send me your product recommends! Have you bought anything from the UD X Gwen range? Let me know in the comments below:

I’ve heard pretty mixed reviews about this palette which is what has kept me from purchasing it, but it looks so pretty and I might have to reconsider! Fab post!
