Autumn TV Picks

Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely adore watching TV, live tweeting and being a fangirl! As an introvert, watching TV is the place I feel the most at home! With Autumn and Winter just around the corner, we all tend to cuddle up under a duvet with a hot chocolate and a new Netflix or TV pick! Well, here are my go to’s to get you through the winter periods. * All are available in UK except one which is due soon!

This is my favourite show – if you are friends with me on Facebook and twitter for that matter you have probably heard me shout about it! HTGAWM is available on Netflix but isn’t currently show on a UK network channel – so I feel it definitely needs more UK love!

Queen Viola Davis stars as Annalise Keating, a law professor at Middleton University, who along with five of her students become entwined in a murder plot (and a few more as the seasons go by!) The students aptly named the Keating5 are expertly played by Alfred Enoch, Karla Souza, Jack Falahee, Aja Naomi King and Matt McGorry.

There are so many twists and turns in the plot, they keep you guessing from episode to episode. If you love a good flash forward and flashback this is the show for you!

By far the weirdest show on my list but I love it! The series stars Gina Rodriguez as Jane Villanueva, a working, religious young Latina virgin, who becomes pregnant after being artificially inseminated by mistake. Parody-ing commonly used tropes in Latin telenovelas this show is lead by a narrator! It follows her through her decisions about her professional future and the daunting prospect of choosing between the father of her baby, Rafael (Justin Baldwin) the owner of the hotel that she works at or her boyfriend, Detective Michael Cordero (Brett Dier).

A TV show adaptation of my favourite YA novels – what is not to love! Shadowhunters is an adaptation of the Mortal Instruments series that follows Clary Fray as she discovers that she is a Shadowhunter, a human born with angelic blood who protect humans from demons.

Clary played by Kat McNamara joins Glee Alumni Harry Shum Jr as warlock Magnus, Dominic Sherwood and Matthew Daddario as Shadowhunter Parabati Jace and Alec, Emeraude Tobia as Isabelle, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke and Alberto Rosende as Simon.

Twitter is obsessed with this show right now, and rightly so!

Eyewitness follows the story of two innocent teenaged boys who secretly meet up in the forest and bear witness to a shooting, barely escaping with their lives.  Lukas (James Paxton) is desperate to keep their relationship a secret and Phillip (Tyler Young) agrees to keep it quiet about their whereabouts that night. The boys live in fear of being found by the perpetrator, they remain silent but soon learn that what has been seen cannot be unseen and when you witness a horrible event it changes everything, forever.

Everyone loves a good superhero TV show and there are none better than ARROW, FLASH, LEGENDS & SUPERGIRL.

  • Arrow follows former billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) who, five years after being stranded on an island, returns home to fight crime as a secret vigilante.
  • The Flash follows Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), a crime scene investigator who gains super-human speed when he is struck by lightening.
  • DC Legends of Tomorrow brings together heroes from both The Flash and Arrow including Atom, White Canary, Firestorm, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Captain Cold and Heatwave as they travel through time to try and stop Vandal Savage.
  • The newest member of the franchise is Supergirl which follows Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) as she gets to grips with becoming Supergirl.
