Recently, I did an Instagram post all about how “you are who you are when no ones watching”. I am trying to embrace the things that make me me and enjoy doing them without worrying about what other people think! This inspired me to write a post about the things that make me happiest and why!
One of the things I noticed when thinking about what to write was about how many of the things I love the most I gave up after my teenage years. I want to get back to that, the basics of what makes me me and back to the moments that make me truly happy. Whilst I wouldn’t acknowledge it at the time I let people and situations put me off doing the things I enjoyed and these things listed below went on the back burner.
READING: I absolutely loved reading when I was a teenager! One of my earliest memories is of me in a bookstore rearranging the books into alphabetical order. I would always be found with my head in a book, volunteering at my library and I even worked at a bookstore for 2 years! For some reason a few years back I just stopped reading! I read the odd book here and there but nothing substantial. I have been trying to read more and I am loving it! I even bought a kindle so i can read easier on the move! My current pick is City of Bones by Cassandra Clare!
TV: Throughout my teenage years I lived for TV! I would spend hours on tumblr and twitter chatting away to people about my favourite shows and characters and get lost in that world for hours! I recently started reusing my fandom tumblr and twitter and it feels so good! These are my people! They get when I want to stay up to watch a TV show at 3am in the morning, why I’ve watched that Matthew Daddario lifestream more times than I can count and why I live my love life vicariously though cute tv couples. It feels so good to be passionate and invested in something which isn’t something I have felt in a long time!
GYM: I rejoined the gym recently (YAY for me) again another past time I loved a few years back. Working out helps with anxiety and stress and really does help me feel like I have achieved something that day! Plugging my headphones into a great workout mix and pushing myself is something I love. Working towards a goal is always something I have been fond off as I like to see results and get as sense of accomplishment out of something.
THEATRE: I live and breathe theatre now and it feels so good! I get to see a lot of shows through work and I still see lots for fun too! The theatre feels like home to me and to be able to be apart of that experience for other people is brilliant.
What are the things you love doing the most? Let me know in the comments below:
