January in Books

Last Year, I did a post all about how to get back into reading, and I think I myself have succeeded in this task. Each month I plan to do a post similar to this showing you what books I have managed to get stuck into that month.

Lea Michele – Brunette Ambition

As a musical/Broadway lover I was super excited when I heard Lea Michele was releasing a lifestyle book. This one has been sitting on my shelf for a very long time and whilst I read it when I first bought it I don’t remember a thing so thought it was about time I revisited it! My favourite section is the tips and tricks for working out when you are super busy and the sort of exercises that Michele does at home are also included and I have tried some of these and they really do work. No wonder she has an amazing figure with all this healthy eating and exercising going on!

Fleur De Force – Glam Guide

I managed to get half way through this book the first time round – so I started from the beginning again. Fleur De Force’s Glam Guide is a mixture of hair, beauty, fashion and lifestyle chapters. There are some really useful hints and tips in here some of which I have already employed in my day to day. One of the better YouTube books I have read.

Michelle Pham – Makeup

Another re-read for me this month! The month of re-reads. This book covers a whole range of topics from beauty to social media to job interviews. It would be the perfect read for any teenager.

Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments – City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Another Re-read seems January was the month for it. This was a re-read from my teenage years and I loved it just as much then as I did now! The last year the TV adaptation version was released and I love it so wanted to get my bearings on the world again! Not gonna lie when I picture it in my head as I read I do picture the TV cast. This is a pretty quick read and is easy to get stuck into. The story follows Clary fray as she discovers her life wasn’t quite what she thought it was, because her mum was hiding a huge secret – she’s a shadowhunter. Navigating the world with the help of her best friend Simon and Luke She’s accepted begrudgingly into the clave institute where she meets Alec, Jace and Isabelle.

The bikini body: 28 day healthy eating and lifestyle guide by Kayla Itsines

I picked this up on a whim in Waterstones the other day as I had to return a book I recently got so did a straight swap for this one. It is a great intro to fitness but the majority is a cookery book. It follows the principles of the internet phenomenon BBG. It shares the principles of fitness and eating and explains what each food type is good for and how much/why we need it etc. It also goes into how best to measure your success and how you feel. It is really informative, as with everything there are certain recipes or workouts that aren’t your cup of tea but I always just take A few nuggets of information from a variety of sources and compile what works for me!

Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

My second Shadowhunters novel of the month! The second instalment follows on from the first with Jace is suspected of treason, downworld children are being ritually killed and Simon is getting to grips with becoming a vamp! It was a really quick read only taking a few days once you get into it. Cant wait to get more  from Alec in the next few books as he’s always been my fave!

      1. I want to reread The Success Principles, and start reading Slim for Life by Julian Michaels and the Warren Buffett Way.
