Hiatus Helpers – TV to Watch

It is that time of year again when my favourite show goes on Hiatus until next year. I’m not kidding anyone when I tell them I am always rewatching Shadowhunters but here are a few of the shows that are helping through the hiatus

Jane The Virgin

I am currently catching up with Season 3 after I watched the first few of S3 on the plane back from Canada and now all three seasons are on Netflix. The series stars Gina Rodriguez as Jane Villanueva, a working, religious young Latina virgin, who becomes pregnant after being artificially inseminated by mistake. Parody-ing commonly used tropes in Latin telenovelas this show is lead by a narrator! It follows her through her decisions about her professional future and the daunting prospect of choosing between the father of her baby, Rafael (Justin Baldoni) the owner of the hotel that she works at or her boyfriend, Detective Michael Cordero (Brett Dier). Any up for a good old laugh and a bit of cry – this is for you! Think a more well developed soap.

How to Get Away with Murder

This is one of my all time faves!  For all you UK bods, HTGAWM is available on Netflix and i believe season 3 is being shown on one of the sky channels right now! Queen Viola Davis stars as Annalise Keating, a law professor at Middleton University, who along with five of her students become entwined in a murder plot (and a few more as the seasons go by!) The students aptly named the Keating5 are expertly played by Alfred Enoch, Karla Souza, Jack Falahee, Aja Naomi King and Matt McGorry. This is perfect for anyone who loves a thriller, likes flashbacks and suspense. There are so many twists and turns in the plot, they keep you guessing from episode to episode.

The Bold Type

Freeform are absolutely killing it with their TV shows recently. First Pretty Little Liars, then Shadowhunters and now The Bold Type. This one isn’t available in the UK yet. The Bold Type follows three friends Sutton, Kat and Jane as they navigate the working world at Scarlet – a global women magazine. The show takles important topics like racism, online trolls, sexuality and women’s equality.

What is the one show you can’t live without? What shows will you be watching while its on break? Let me know in the comments below as I am always looking for new shows!

Until Next Time,

Laugh, Love and Shop
