Slow and steady wins the race! I am slowly pushing towards my goal of reading 24 books this year! In theory this was supposed to be 2 a month but it really hasn’t worked that way as I find myself going ages without reading anything and then reading two or three things in one go. Here are the books that left my TBR pile this August:
Geekerella – Ashley Poston
Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite
I have heard nothing but positives about this book and I wasn’t disappointed. The story follows Elle, who is living with her evil stepmom and stepsisters after her dad (founder of ExcelSiCon) died. The same very convention which celebrates Starfield is holding a cosplay competition and geek girl Elle, who writes a fandom blog being less than complimentary about the new star, just has to go. Prize? Meet and Greet with said star – Darien Freedman. Darien is desperate to get out of going to the convention and try’s to get in contact with the organisers. One wrong number means that Darien finds himself texting Elle. Unbenowst to him, she is the blogger slating him, unbenowst to her he is the star who is at the bottom of her list of casting choices.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Lost Souls – Cassandra Clare
Descensus Averno facilis est.
City of Lost Souls starts back with the gang where we left off from City of Fallen Angels. Jace is missing (AGAIN) and untraceable, Sebastian is still up to no good, Simon’s struggles to enter his own home and Camille and her offer of reversing immortality comes back to haunt Magnus and Alec (Malec). This is definitely one of my favourite books in the series and the quote above is by far one of my faves too!
Close your Eyes – Nicci Cloke
Who is truly responsible?
This was never on my TBR list but i saw this in the library the other week and decided to pick it up and give it a go! Close your eyes goes into depth to decide who is responsible for the school shooting that takes place at Southfield High School. It does so through a variety of different ways – police reports, physiologist notes, newspaper articles, Facebook and whatsapp messages and normal chapters.
